A RESOLUTION

  1- 1  Recognizing Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., and inviting
  1- 2  him to appear before the House of Representatives; and for
  1- 3  other purposes.

  1- 4  WHEREAS, the Honorable Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., is the
  1- 5  distinguished Congressman from the second district of
  1- 6  Georgia who is a respected friend and former colleague to
  1- 7  many members of this legislative body; and

  1- 8  WHEREAS, it is always an honor and a privilege to welcome
  1- 9  him home to Georgia and to invite him before this House
  1-10  where he was a valued voice during his tenure as a state
  1-11  representative; and

  1-12  WHEREAS, the Congressman has brought considerable credit and
  1-13  honor to this state and has earned national respect and
  1-14  recognition as a trusted leader in Congress where he serves
  1-15  as a Democratic Whip-at-Large; and

  1-16  WHEREAS, he exercises considerable knowledge, commitment,
  1-17  and compassion on behalf of all Georgians in his committee
  1-18  assignments and in his review and analysis of legislation;
  1-19  and

  1-20  WHEREAS, he has consistently demonstrated his commitment to
  1-21  improving the quality of life for Georgians, his deep sense
  1-22  of social justice, and his integrity as an elected public
  1-23  official.

  1-24  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
  1-25  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and
  1-26  commend Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., for his
  1-27  dedicated public service and invite him to appear before the
  1-28  House of Representatives at a date and a time to be
  1-29  determined by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

  1-30  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
  1-31  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
  1-32  appropriate copy of this resolution to Congressman Sanford
  1-33  D. Bishop, Jr.
