Cosponsored H.R. 137 calling for the U.S. trade representative to immediately impose retaliatory economic measures on Japan if that country continues to delay in meeting its obligations to resume beef imports from the United States. Bill in committee.

Fought for Agriculture Coops and Crop Insurance

Cosigned delegation letter to Ross Davidson, Administrator of USDA Risk Management Agency, seeking reconsideration of proposed 2005 changes to law governing Standard Insurance Agreements (SIAs) governing agricultural cooperatives (coops) that offer their members crop insurance.

 Supported Agribusiness Tax Credit

Supported the Agriculture Business Security Tax Credit Act of 2005 (H.R. 713). This legislation provides retailers of agricultural products or manufacturers of certain pesticides a business tax credit for up to 50 percent of the cost of protecting certain hazardous chemical or pesticides from unauthorized use. Bill in committee.  

Supported Critical-use Exemptions for Methyl Bromide

Cosponsored H.R. 1257 to amend the Clean Air Act to establish critical-use exemptions for methyl bromide. Bill in committee.

Fought to Protect Georgia,s Farm Heritage

Supported National Food Labeling Standards    

Supported the National Uniformity for Food Act (H.R. 4176). This legislation prohibits states from imposing food safety labeling standards for food packaging and maintains the Food and Drug Administration as the sole agency authorized to set such labeling standards. Bill passed House.
